Social media is now apart of peoples lives. It has become so important that people cannot function without having their handy gadget easily available so they can make that post that instantly fills their gratification. In the world of politics, social media such as twitter have become so important that political parties desire to have the opposing sides followers. Such is the case with the Democrats and former president Donald Trump.
Trump is known for using his social media accounts to mobilize his base. He is know for tweeting contriversial subject matter that gets the oposition upset. As is when he tweeted, "Truly weird Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky reminds me of a spoiled brat without a properly functioning brain. He was terrible at DEBATE!" (Forbes 2015). America is the land of the free and liberated, they have protection in the form of constitutional rights when relation to the matters of freedom of speech. Their constitutions says "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances" (Cornell Law School 2021). The design of the free speech laws in America serve to protect its citizens by allowing them to be informed of modern human nature. Through being informed, the citizens are then able to better anticipate negativity and or cruelty. In this, interventions and solutions can be effectively implemented to aleviate harm to citizens. Freedom of speech is like thinking and rehersing before acting. This thinking alows citizens to go through the complete process as per Blooms Taxonomy, which are knowledge, application of knowledge, comprehension, annalysis, evaluation and synthesis (Lasley II 2020). Freedom of speech therefore increases the knowledge base.
Freedom of speech in short, allows the American society to be resilient in a world that is increasingly being penetrated by radical movements and turmoil. Americas safegaurd, free speech, evades and repels the repressive nature of such regimes as China and the Middle East while at the same time allowing its citizens to practice and make others concious of negativity. Through this expirience, Americans can strategically be aware. These offensive tweets serve to bring a woke community about that is well positioned to alleviate the effects of oppressive states so that American society can continue to spread democracy, liberty, capitalism, free trade, and rule of law around the world.
